3rd Quarter 2010 Review

2010 is the year we begin.

As we move closer to our scheduled start-up in early summer, our growing Team is successfully managing our transition from project phase to actual operations. In July we will fire up our Hot Strip Mill's furnaces and flip the switches on its roughing mills and finishing lines. Shortly thereafter, according a carefully phased plan, we will power up our Cold Rolling Mill and Pickling Lines followed by our four Hot Dip Galvanizing Lines as the year draws to a close.

As of June 2010, ThyssenKrupp Steel USA numbers nearly 1000 Team Members and we're growing at a rate of 30 new faces, perspectives, and talented minds a week. Through the remainder of this year, we will put another 900 hard working men and women to work, drawing closer to the 1,800 Team Members we'll employ when we are fully operational.

At the end of the 3rd Quarter, there is an additional 5,200 plus construction-related workers employed on our site by contractors who are completing infrastructure, electrical systems, and the all-important installation of the state-of-the-art equipment that, along with our talented and experienced Team, will enable us to provide the highest quality product to customers in the NAFTA market. As of June, we've hit several milestones including the completion of our river terminal, quality lab, waste water recycling plant, and our slab yard.

In February of 2010, our close partnership with the State of Alabama produced a major project milestone as the Alabama State Port Authority's recently completed steel terminal on Pinto Island received its first shipment of slabs that will initially be used for testing crane loads and RFIDs.

Helping area business communities and our state's workforce to weather the current economic challenges, as of this Quarter, ThyssenKrupp Steel USA has let over $1.5 billion in construction-related contracts with companies based in the southeastern U.S. Of this total, over $700 million were with companies based in our home state of Alabama.

2010 is the year we begin.
