Coil – A strip of steel wound up into a coil. Coils will be transported from our facility to the market via road, river or rail.
Cold Rolling – This forming process will be carried out in our cold rolling mill following hot rolling. In this process, the steel is reduced to a predefined thickness by the application of extremely high pressures during rolling. The difference between cold rolling and hot rolling is the temperature.
Cold Strip – Steel product that has been cold rolled to widths up to 2000 mm and thicknesses of 0.35 to approx. 4 mm. The advantages of cold-rolled strip over hot-rolled strip lie in better surface quality, lower tolerances and thinner sections.
Hot Rolling – This forming process will be carried out in our hot strip mill through the application of high temperatures. Slabs are heated to very high temperatures before rolling, which permits large thickness reductions and allows the carbon steel slabs to be formed into thin strips.
Hot Strip – Product that is produced through hot rolling. Hot strip is used as a starting material for cold rolled strip.
Slab – A compact block of crude steel produced through the casting process of a melt shop. Slabs produced in the melt shops of ThyssenKrupp CSA in Brazil will be used as the starting material in our rolling mills.
