ThyssenKrupp Steel USA will have a comprehensive list of products, making hot rolled bands and pickled coils, full finished cold rolled as well as galvanized, galvannealed, aluminized and galvalume products. We intend to produce a full range of steel grades to include mild, high strength and advanced high strength, as well as high carbon and structural steels.

Our products will support high-value applications by manufacturers in Mexico and throughout North America, taking special advantage of the region's north to south migration of modern industrial centers. We will serve the automotive, construction, and pipe and tube industries, as well as service centers and the manufacturers of appliances, precision machinery and engineered products.

Carbon Steel Processing

For ThyssenKrupp Steel USA, the future has only just begun. We are working to ensure steel continues to shape technical progress in NAFTA, and particularly in the United States, through the 21st century. Innovative and smart, steel today is the number one industrial material. When operational, we will concentrate on flat steel products that have strong growth potential. We intend to be a major player in these markets for high-value and value-added flat carbon steel.

In our processing, we will use high-quality carbon steel slabs produced at the ThyssenKrupp CSA facility currently under construction in Brazil which is scheduled to begin operations in summer of 2010.

Transported by ship and then barge to our facility’s river terminal on the Tombigbee River, the slabs will be processed through our hot strip mill, cold rolling mill, and hot dipped galvanizing lines. Our facility will be fully equipped to produce the highest quality coiled carbon steel bands for sale as hot rolled and substrate for cold rolled and coated products. The hot strip mill will be capable of rolling thicknesses ranging from 1.5 mm up through 25.4 mm, and the state-of-the-art continuous pickle tandem mill will have the capability of rolling from .3 mm up through 3 mm for both exposed and unexposed applications.

Our four continuous galvanizing lines will have the capability of producing 1.8 million tons of coated products for exposed and unexposed applications including construction. Two of these lines will produce product up to 1870 mm wide, the other two up to 1670 mm wide. One of these lines will also be capable of producing both cold rolled and coated products.
