Welcome. Willkommen.
ThyssenKrupp Steel USA, LLC has begun constructing a multi-billion dollar state-of-the-art carbon steel processing facility in north Mobile County, Alabama.
The advanced technology facility is a cornerstone of ThyssenKrupp's Duisburg, Germany based Materials Division's new global market expansion. When operational in the Spring of 2010, the new state-of-the-art facility will help meet the future demand for high quality value-added flat carbon steel products in the NAFTA market, particularly in the United States.
When completed, our greenfield project will include a river terminal on Alabama’s Tombigbee River, a rail terminal, a hot strip mill, cold rolling mill and four hot dip coating lines which will process slabs from ThyssenKrupp CSA's multi-billion dollar steel making facility currently under construction in Sepetiba Bay, Brazil.
The facility will have an annual capacity of 4.1 million metric tons of American made carbon steel products for customers in the automotive, construction, pipe and tube, service center, and appliance industries.
The facility will allow ThyssenKrupp to bring its nearly two hundred year old metallurgical expertise, technical support, and successful business model based on long-term customer relationships and support to the NAFTA region.
Construction has been underway since our groundbreaking in November 2007, and we have begun building a talented team that is moving us steadily toward goals. Both our construction and our hiring process remains on schedule for us to begin operations in the Spring of 2010 and to begin establishing our reputation as the premier steel producer in the NAFTA region.
